Lady of the Grapes links arms with Corney & Barrow in celebration of International Women’s Day
Lady of the Grapes wine bar and restaurant in Covent Garden has joined forces with Corney & Barrow Wine Merchants for a celebration of women in the wine industry next month.
The event, hosted by Lady of the Grapes’ owner, Carole Bryon, will be held at the wine bar on Maiden Lane on 5th March, and will feature a panel of expert guests including Rebecca Palmer, Wine Buyer and Associate Director for Corney & Barrow, and winemakers Vivien Ujvári (Barta Winery, Hungary) and Wendy Outhwaite (Ambriel Winery, Sussex).
After 22 years at the bar and an elevation to QC, Wendy has significant experience as a woman in a predominantly man’s world, as does Rebecca Palmer, who joined the UK wine trade in 1996 and has worked with long-established independent wine merchants Corney & Barrow for the past 12 years. Vivien was appointed Head Winemaker of Barta in July 2016, after working her way around vineyards in Napa Valley, New Zealand, Australia and Tokaji.
The evening will include a tasting of six wines from Barta and Ambriel. Each wine will be presented by the winemaker, and paired with an amuse bouche.
Tickets for the event are available directly from Lady of the Grapes on 020 7836 4152 or via Eventbrite
