There are many ways to experience new wines at a tasting, and one that catches the eye is a serene “lagoon wine tasting” as offered at Constance Hotels and Resorts’ Halaveli location. Situated in the Maldives, where the Indian Ocean reflects a beautiful sapphire hue, it takes guests on a sensory journey hosted by the resort’s head sommelier Cyril, or sommelier Jimmy.

The tasting takes place in the water, where guests stand at a tasting table, outside Halaveli’s main restaurant Jahaz. This is usually held between 6-7pm, taking advantage of the island’s sunset hour. The timing can be altered to suit guests’ preferences, but a sunset lagoon wine tasting sounds nothing short of magical.

Commonly included in the tasting is a selection of wine from New Zealand and South Africa, France and Italy, however this, too, can be adjusted to suit guests, and the wines are accompanied by a variety of decadent canapés.
The lagoon wine tasting offers an alternative, discovery experience, in addition to wine tastings in the resort’s wine cellar.
