Owned by the family-run Casa Silva Estate, the vineyard stretches the boundaries of Chilean viticulture to its most southern point.

Located in the foothills of the Andes in Futrono, on the shores of Ranco Lake, Casa Silva is strongly influenced by the area’s unique wine-growing conditions. Planting in such climates further extends Casa Silva’s reputation as one of the most diverse and innovative wine producers.

Mario Geisse, Head Winemaker and Technical Director, comments, “Due to the fact the area has little sunshine, in comparison to the rest of South America’s vineyards, the steep exposure and aspect of the vineyard is crucial. It allows us to utilize the sun alongside an exceptional natural drainage system.”

The six-hectare vineyard planted with Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, continues to produce new and interesting wines that show good levels of acidity and plenty of fruit. With its strong sense of family, Casa Silva wishes not only to be seen as the first option for super-premium wines in Chile, but for the family values, culture, innovation and respect for nature that is at the core of their philosophy.

Mario Pablo Silva, Managing Director, adds, “As a winery we are continually looking to broaden our horizons and challenge the parameters of what is capable within Chilean winemaking. Ranco is cooler than any other wine region, and vintage variation is likely to be more dramatic, but the soils are ideal and we are delighted with our first harvest. The potential for the future is extremely exciting and we are delighted to be the first winery to carry out such a project”.

Renowned as Casa Silva is for leading the way in developing cool-climate vineyards and producing a wide range of terroir-specific wines, we are excited to announce that we have selected the Lago Ranco Riesling 2016 for the Samling’s Wine Cellar. This exceptional wine is further proof that Chile’s south has a very bright future for fine wine.

We look forward to future vintages with great excitement and hope that you will share in our passion.
