Luxuriously at one with nature
High-end, boutique accommodation, world-class wine, and food in the culinary heart of the Cape winelands high up on the slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain.
“Luxuriously at one with nature,” Angala is positioned high up on the slopes of the majestic Simonsberg mountain range, boasting panoramic vistas of countryside and vineyard. The sanctuary of Angala’s lush gardens and prolific birdlife creates a magical space where you can truly unwind, rest, and recharge.
Our ten unique ensuite rooms and two private cottages offer understated luxury and comfort complete with outdoor showers for the summer and roaring fireplaces for the Cape’s romantic winter season. Wine tasting at nearby Vrede en Lust, complimentary mini-bar including glasses of locally produced methôde cap classique on arrival are only a few special touches that you can expect during your sojourn.
Angala’s small brigade of skilled chefs present country-style cuisine throughout the day including a delectable and unique three-course menu each evening. Our famous Angala breakfast, which is included in your stay, consists of a bountiful buffet spread including hot dishes to order, fresh oysters, and of course methôde cap classique. We cater for all your dietary and allergy requirements and are more than happy to adjust any menu to your liking.
With wellness and relaxation at the core of our ethos, Angala’s hydro facilities have been designed to allow you to escape and rejuvenate. Drift into a state of calm in either our refreshing natural eco pool, infrared sauna, steam room, heated plunge pool, or ozonated pool. In the comfort of your own room you can choose from our full range of spa treatments including specialized shiatsu or reflexology massage.
The Cape winelands is world famous for its superlative wines as well as its contemporary culinary scene. Fortuitously, Angala is situated in the heart of this epicurean region with neighboring estates being Rupert & Rothschild, Boschendal, and Spice Route to highlight a few.
To complete your culinary experience, Franschhoek is home to some of South Africa’s most renowned chefs and restaurants. Foliage and Le Coin Français are just two suggestions of chef-owned dining destinations that are currently on the local dining hot list.
Feeling a little more active? Commence your day with a private yoga session in one of the many secluded areas on the property followed by an amble or cycle up the beautiful Simonsberg. Popular activities in the area include the garden walk through the world famous Babylonstoren, wine tasting tour on horseback or exploring the largest private car museum on the African Continent at L’Ormarins. For the younger adventurers, we are minutes away from Le Bonheur Crocodile Farm (you can cage dive with these ancient predators) or head down the road to the Drakenstein Lion Park where 30 lions, rescued from around the world, are lovingly cared for and given a second chance at life.
Angala specializes in arranging getaways for those seeking yoga, detox, and personal-growth retreats. For more information on attending or hosting an Angala Retreat, please contact Dane Blignaut to discuss further.
