Taberna de Haro

Taberna de Haro serves authentic Madrid taberna coziness in a Boston setting. Diners here can enjoy a range of hearty Spanish main dishes or a selection of tapas served in a cheery but rustic dining room. Owner Deborah Hansen is Boston born but has spent several years in Spain, and is a trained sommelier. Her experience is evident in Taberna de Haro’s carefully curated wine list, which boasts exclusively Spanish wines totaling over 325 varieties. Of this list, over 75 are sherry and manzanilla. Sample here a huge range of sherry, labeled “sherry paradise” by our judges. Here, a sherry is typically enjoyed before a meal, but is also encouraged as an accompaniment to food. For a twist on a classic try one of the bold reds on offer from Spain’s Galicia region. For Rioja aficionados, choose from a range that incorporates the diversity of new styles such as a LZ Tempranillo 2014 (Compania Vinícula de Telmo) as well as a range of classic Gran Reserva, such as a fine Viña Ardanza Reserva Especial 2001. The judges were impressed, though they might have liked to see a broader range of wines by the glass (at the time of writing there are only 10 on offer.)
