Le Coureur des Bois Bistro Culinaire

Located on the banks of the Richelieu River, Hotel Rive Gauche affords views over the water, and it’s here that the culinary bistro Le Coureur des Bois can be found. Within this light-filled modern dining space, guests can savor the cuisine of accomplished chef Jean-François Méthot who has created menus of French-inspired plates encompassing seasonal and local produce, ranging from hearty braised guinea fowl served on country-style bread with oyster mushroom from Saint-Ours, pearled onion, pea and foie gras reduction, to locally sourced fresh oysters.

Le Coureur des Bois has won awards for its selection of wine for four consecutive years. The restaurant’s director Ian Purtell and chef sommelier Hugo Duchesne have curated a comprehensive list of wines from old and new world wine regions, including a particularly extensive collection of Champagne from both major and boutique Champagne houses. For a Canadian wine, try the Nouvelle—Écosse Benjamin Bridge Rosé from 2011.
