The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort - DECANTER

Formerly of Anantara Kihavah Villas – a regular and successful participant in the World’s Best Wine Lists, wine director Mokshanand Bootun (Nilesh) is now overseeing the wine program at the newly opened St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort.

Amid 77 luxury villas and suites, and rubbing shoulders with five other dining options, Decanter restaurant at the St. Regis offers a romantic fine dining experience in its underground wine cellar. A five-course menu pairs with the establishment’s self-titled wine directory for enophiles, in which it addresses wine enthusiasts and provides an introduction to its notable wine collection. The judges of the World’s Best Wine Lists commented that the wine list features a very international selection and a good choice of by-the-glass options. Vintages go as far back as 1755, up to 2015, including an excellent variety of 20th century wines with cherry picked labels from each decade.

The wine list will also point out some of the restaurant’s top picks for the reader, outlining its breadth and strength, and backs this up with a knowledgeable wine team on hand.

Receiving three stars off the bat in its first appearance in the World’s Best Wine Lists (2017) is no mean feat, and should be highly regarded as a top fine wine destination for the Indian Ocean.
