Since its initiation into the World of Fine Wine Awards, Sager + Wilde has delighted and inspired judges with its intriguing selections, presented in tight-knit categories and regions to claim the top honour of a three-star award.
Following the success of its sister wine bar in London’s Hackney, opening in 2013, Sager + Wilde spread its wings further and opened a second establishment under the arches situated in Bethnal Green a year later. Paradise Row welcomes a wider audience, encompassing not only a distinguished wine list but an expert cocktail collection, speciality teas and coffee, and a full kitchen, taking it into restaurant territory.
Owner and wine consultant Michael Sager already has a collection of reputable accolades under his belt after 10 years of working in the wine industry. These include recognition as GQ Magazine’s UK Sommelier of the Year in 2015 and the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) Outstanding Achievement in the Wine Industry, to name a few.
An extensive wine selection allows guests a taste from each corner of the globe, should they wish, narrowing down countries and regions for white and red, alongside sweet and fortified, orange, sparkling and carefully-selected Jean Jean-Francois Ganevat wines. A shortlisted, reasonably priced, selection ensures Sager + Wilde caters to all audiences. White wines draw upon neighbours Germany, Austria and Switzerland, where Riesling takes centre stage, and the Loire Valley encompasses some standout Sauvignon Blanc. America’s east coast regions Mendocino, Sonoma and Napa, alongside Burgundy, heavily influence the red wine selection where a 1989 Echezeaux Grand Cru Domaine de la Romanée Conti is available to cap off an exquisite dining experience.
