Sager and Wilde Hackney Road

With its superbly imaginative selection of small-producer wines, Michael Sager's Hackney wine bar has certainly struck a chord with an increasing number of London’s wine-lovers since opening its doors in 2013.

As one of those London wine-lovers, World’s Best Wine Lists 2015 senior judge Francis Percival, said, Sager and Wilde Hackney Road is “The definitive modern wine bar, the very definition of that.”

Percival was alluding to its “intensely interesting and varied, regularly changing list,” which, while taking in such curiosities as Lyrarakis Dafni from Crete, Forad Humagne Blanche, from the Valais in Switzerland, and a long selection of orange wines, also offers more traditional classics such as Château Latour 1970.

Equally impressive however, as Percival again points out, is the “great” pricing, and the number of wines available by the glass—important contributing factors in making Sager and Wilde Hackney Road Best Wine Bar in Europe 2015.
